A New and Concise Bible Dictionary embracing some special
features, to which are added some
New Testament Synonyms
Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.

Prefatory Note
The principal object in bringing out this Bible Dictionary is to
give in a concise form information on subjects not usually found in
such works, namely:-

A short survey of each of the Books of the Bible, with a glance
at the truth of God contained in them.

The doctrines of Christianity as set forth in scripture.
-
The dispensational dealings of God as revealed in His word: the
distinction between the various dispensations being often
misunderstood and ignored.

Prophecy: many parts of scripture being unintelligible unless
the ways of God as portrayed in Prophecy are understood.

The feasts and offerings given in the Old Testament, with their
antitypes found in the New Testament.

The names of persons and places have been included to make the
work complete, together with the identification of sites as far
as they been discovered by modern travellers. The Longitude and
Latitude of such have been inserted from the excellent map of
the Palestine Exploration Fund.

Chronological tables are also added under Antiochus, Assyria,
Babylon, Chronology, Egypt, Judges, Kings, New Testament,
Persia, and Roman Empire.

A few New Testament Synonyms form an Appendix, giving examples
of how God has been pleased to cause the writers of the various
books to use many Greek words. Under the proper names is given
in most cases a reference to every occurrence of the name,
forming thus far a Concordance.

It has been necessary to establish a standard method of
entry. This applies to complex multi-syllable words,
especially names, some of which may, in certain versions of
scripture, be shown with hyphens, apostrophes etc., as an
aid to pronunciation. All such extras have been removed
from the main headings for searching purposes, but the
original entry in the Morrish dictionary has also been
included in square brackets.
Example:
Name in 2 Kings 15:29 is shown in one printing of scripture as
"A'-bel-beth-ma'-a-chah." It is entered in this version as
"Abelbethmaachah [A'bel-beth-ma'achah]."
[A'bel-beth-ma'achah] is the 'Morrish' method of entry.
